Thanksgiving is here! I hope you’re able to celebrate alongside family and friends, with any traditions that make you happy. Thanksgiving is often cited as the most popular holiday in the U.S., and I can understand that. It is a secular celebration that any and all can join in, and being grateful is universal. I’m always overjoyed to recognize and be thankful for all the good in my life. With that in mind, I’m going to indulge in sharing my heartfelt Thanksgiving wishes in this classic holiday post.

Gratitude for the People in My Life

I’m sure I’m not alone in instantly thinking of my family—my wonderful parents; my extended family of aunts, uncles, and lots of cousins; and my beloved relatives who aren’t at the table anymore. I am also grateful for my friends—both human and canine!

In my professional life, I am so thankful for my colleagues at ATR International and in the business community as a whole—our clients, fellow business owners, board members, and the many professionals who guide and inspire me.

I am so grateful for the ways in which each of you enrich my life and make the world more awesome in general. I am a better person because of all of you. I hope that I am able to support you in the same way.

Turning Gratitude into Action

Thanksgiving is also a time to reflect on the fundamental things we have to be grateful for—food, shelter, health, safety, and peace. There are far too many people in our world who do not have these basic necessities. Now is the perfect time to acknowledge our privileges, examine inequities, and help find solutions. It’s not enough to be thankful; I want to make a positive change in the world.

I know I’m not alone in that desire. I see my ATR colleagues supporting charities that are important to them and their communities. We work together as a firm—and often alongside our clients too—supporting nonprofits and other mission-driven organizations across the country. I’m also grateful to be personally involved with several wonderful organizations working to improve lives and build stronger communities that benefit everyone.

At ATR, our entire team is making the world a better place. In fact, helping others is foundational to our goals. By helping professionals find jobs and empowering companies to grow and become more successful, we are regularly contributing small but mighty cogs to the machine that is our economy. A good job offers not only reliable paychecks, but also a sense of purpose and dignity—and a strong economy and a prosperous nation improve all our lives. I am grateful for my leadership position, which enables me to help, in my own small way, build that better nation for us all. I’ll give a second Thanksgiving shoutout to my ATR colleagues for making it all possible!

Gratitude for Our First Responders

No Thanksgiving post would be complete without recognizing and thanking those who keep us healthy and safe—first responders, the police and fire departments, military personnel, doctors and nurses, and everyone who is on duty while the rest of us are enjoying ourselves. Thank you!

There you have it—a classic blog post to celebrate the holiday with heartfelt Thanksgiving wishes. Have a great holiday weekend, everyone!
