With this in mind, our Employee Spotlight series is offering a behind-the-scenes look at the people who make our ATR family great. This month, we’re featuring Ajla Kovacevic, Account Executive, who is one of our newest employees! With a strong, established career in the staffing industry, we’re proud to have her on our team. Ajla is taking us backstage to learn more about her passion for staffing, her career strengths, and what has brought her to join the ATR team.
1. Briefly describe your career journey.
I worked for a competing staffing firm for almost 4 years when I first met the owner of ATR. I knew immediately that I wanted to be there after speaking with him. The family feel and quality aspect of everything done at ATR was tugging at my heartstrings. I have had nothing but the best experience thus far. The training, the tools I have access to, the supportive co-workers, and the management team are just a few of the reasons that I hope to call ATR home for many years to come.
2. What was the strongest factor that made you want to join ATR?
Quality. I loved that ATR strives to make sure they do not steer away from their focus on quality. ATR does what is best for its people as a whole; whether you are a client, consultant or internal employee. They will do what is best for you and make sure that the process is high-quality every time. It was really important for me to join a company that aligned with that value of mine.
3. As a new member of the team, what has been the most interesting thing you’ve learned or experience you’ve had since you started?
The people have all been amazing. You can really feel how important this company is to every employee that works here. There is a strong sense of family and community that would make anybody feel at home.
4. What do you love most about your job?
I love the fact that I get to interact with customers and consultants who become my friends. It doesn’t feel like a job, it feels like I am making a difference. Every time I make a placement, I am helping fill a business need (making the client’s life easier) and finding somebody a job while doing so. Every day is different, and I am constantly being challenged while learning something new on a daily basis.
5. What is your favorite thing to do in Minneapolis?
I am a big foodie, and I love to explore all of Minneapolis’ amazing restaurants and food trucks! I also love to spend time outdoors. Contrary to popular belief, we do have warm weather in the spring, summer and fall.
6. What is your top piece of advice for clients, candidates, or those who are new to the staffing industry?
I would tell clients to look beyond the resume. Have a conversation with the person and really dig deeper when it comes to experience. We are here for YOU, and we will do the best we can to screen your people and be transparent to make sure you don’t have to rely on resumes alone.
7. What would be the title of your autobiography?
“A refugee in between.” I come from a war-torn country, Bosnia and Herzegovina. I’ve always found it hard to fit in when it comes to both American and Bosnian cultures – always feeling a little bit “in between” both.
8. What’s one thing about you that would surprise the rest of the ATR team?
I have three citizenships: US, Bosnian, and Croatian!
